Chelsea Star Diego Costa Wants Atletico Madrid Return: Marca

After just one season at Chelsea, Diego Costa wants to return to former club Atletico Madrid after failing to settle in London.

Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Costa, joined Chelsea only last season for a reported transfer fee of a 36 million. The Spanish-Brazilian forward did very well for The Blues scoring 20 goals from only 26 games and helped Chelsea win the English Premier League. Costa was the third highest scorer in the league with 20 goals, only behind Aguero (26) and Kane (21).

But despite being one of Chelseaa s best players throughout the season, it is being reported that the forward wants to return to Atletico Madrid. According to popular Spanish daily, Marca, Costa is not happy with Chelsea as he has failed to adapt to the conditions in England.

.

It is believed that Costa has contacted Atletico officials and is prepared to even take a drop in his wages to make a return to his former club possible. The forward joined the Spanish giants at the age of 17 and became a huge star at the club at 25, leading them to the La Liga title last season.

THT Verdict: Unlikely

Jose Mourinho made the Diego Costa move happen in a very reasonable deal. The prolific striker proved his worth in the very first season at the club and there is no way that Mourinho will be ready to part with the forward. Costa is Chelseaa s main man and if he manages to remain fit for the entire next season, he will definitely be one of the top scorers in the Premier League. Chelsea have for a long time missed the presence of an out-and-out regular goal-scoring striker and Costa provides them just that. It will be hard to imagine Atletico convincing the Blues to part with Costa for an affordable price tag.
