“Chelsea Replace Arsenal For The Relegation Battle” Fans React To Blues Defeat Against Manchester City [Tweets]

Manchester City beat Chelsea FC 3-0 at the Etihad stadium courtesy of goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho.

The Citizens had won their opening game of the season comfortably against West Brom with a 3-0 scoreline and they continued their strong start to the season. Sergio Aguero missed a couple of half-chances in the early exchanges but finally found the back of the net after some neat footwork around the half hour mark. Jose Mourinho substituted John Terry for the first time in 177 games and the defender was replaced by Kurt Zouma at half-time.

Fabregas fluffed a chance in the first half as the Blues looked for an equalizer. Asmir Begovic – the second choice keeper who was deputizing for Thibaut Courtois – then caught Cahill as he tried to punch clear a ball. Courtois had been sent off for a professional foul against Swansea City and was unavailable for the match.

Vincent Kompany found the back of the net for the second successive game as he headed in from close range in the 79th minute from a David Silva corner. The Belgian outmuscled Ivanovic to rise highest and connect with the incoming cross. Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho completed the rout in the 84th minute when he fired straight into the back of the net from the edge of the penalty box, his shot evaded a number of Chelsea FC defenders who had crowded the box.

Rivals fans took to Twitter to mock the result of the Premier League holders along with Mourinho, following his public row with club doctor Eva Carneiro in the aftermath of the opening game draw against Swansea City.
