In a rather shocking move, Arsenal FC seem to be keen on signing former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, who has been raising a lot of eyebrows of late at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Mexican has been in great form ever since his move from Manchester United, already scoring 19 goals so far this season for the Bundesliga club.
While Arsenal FC have not really had much problem going up front, they seem to have just one recognised striker in the form of Olivier Giroud. Danny Welbeck has been injured for a long time, and could take a long time to get back to full fitness even after recovering from the injury.
While Arsene Wenger has played Theo Walcott up front before, the England international is more of a winger, leaving the club with just Giroud up front, which is why there has been a lot of talk about the Gunners signing a striker
Bundesliga reinforcement in midfield?
The Gunners face a similar problem in the holding midfield region, with Francis Coquelin — their only recognised defensive midfielder — also out with a long term injury. Wenger has been playing Mathieu Flamini in that role for some time now, but Arsenal FC were left rather exposed at Southampton on Boxing Day, when they lost 4-0.

Not very expensive reinforcements
While Nordtveit’s contract runs out at the end of this season, Hernandez still has two and a half years to go on his agreement with Bayer Leverkusen. The duration on either of the two players’ contracts are not altogether long ones, which could mean that Arsenal FC might be able to get both these players quite cheaply.
Transfermarkt.com values Hernandez and Nordveit at around A?7.5 million and A?4 million repectively, but we can expect their clubs to ask for a considerably higher price, considering the fact that both these players have been in outstanding form.
