. Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering a move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The 29-year-old forward made just 11 starts in the Premier League last season and struggled to make any significant impact as Manchester City failed to defend their Premier League crown. The Bosnian internationala s future at the club has come under a lot of speculations and a host of clubs have been linked with a move for him, including AS Roma.

Dzeko, who signed from Wolfsburg for A?27 million in 2011, has had a fairly decent goal scoring record considering the fact that he hasna t been a regular starter. But City are expected to make a lot of new additions to their squad this summer after a trophy-less campaign last time around and Dzeko could be one of the casualties along the way.

Arsenal weighing up a move for Dzeko: Dailystar

Interestingly Arsenal have now been linked with the Manchester City striker. The Gunners are believed to be in the market for a new forward and according to Dailystar, they are considering a move for Dzeko.

a Arsenal are weighing up a bid for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

a Boss Arsene Wenger knows he needs more firepower and the Bosnian has cropped up in talks with his team.a a Journalist Tony Stenson wrote for Dailystar.

Dzeko isna t an upgrade on Giroud

When it comes to transfer news, Dailystar are certainly not the most reliable of sources and this on the face of it seems nothing more than one of those baseless rumours.

When Arsene Wenger said that he will make new additions to the squad if the right player is available, he certainly didna t mean Dzeko, did he? While the Bosnian is a decent striker, with a decent goal scoring record in the Premier League, he is certainly not an upgrade on Olivier Giroud. In fact Dzeko will find it hard to displace Giroud from the starting line-up.

Moreover, at his age, if he had to sit on the bench, he would do that at Manchester City itself. Roma looks like a far more promising destination for the striker.

If Arsenal do sign another striker this summer, Arsene Wenger will bring someone who brings something different to the team. Giroud has everything Dzeko has in his game and more.
