Goa Pro-League has been considered is one of the most competitive state league of the country for quite some time now. The league has been a perfect place to spot new talent for the future. Sporting Clube De Goa Look To Defend The Title
Oscar Bruzon would once again looks to marshall his troop to defend the title of the Goa Pro League. The Spainaird had successful season last year with the club. There were many young players who shined under the coach and had an excellent season. The club now has earned reputation is one of the strongest team in the country and started to attract some experienced players in the transfer season. This season they would be having higher goals to achieve at the national level, but they will look to defend title in Goa. The signings of some experiene players and host of younger players from AIFF Elite Academy will certanly make Sporting a strong outfit. The experience at the back was missing and with inclusion of likes of Cresson Antao would add solidity at the back. Things looks settled for Sporting Clube de Goa and if players play to the plan of the coaches they will be a unstopable force.
Churchill Brothers Will Have A Point To Prove
One of the shock of last season was the expulsion of the Indian powerhouse Churchill Brothers from the I-league because the club failed to fulfill the AFC license criteria. The club has already lost a few of the key players to the I-league side and some more are predicted to leave the club for greener pasture. It will be very interesting to see the Varca based club this season. The club will like to start from the scratch and prove a point in Indian football that they are still a power to reckon. They always started as title contenders and are expected to pose a strong threat to Sporting Clube de Goa title’ s defense.
Salgaocar FC And Dempo SC Aim To Win The Crown.
The Goan Greens and Golden Eagles have been dominating Goa football for a very long time. Emergence of new clubs like Sporting Clube de Goa, Wilfred Liesure, Goa Velha has created few problems, but they are expected to do well in the league.
Both the clubs are well balanced sides and have retained the majority of the players from the last season. Both the clubs known to play enterprising football, and it will be amazing to watch the boys in Green and Blue dazzle the field. They will be eager to reclaim the title and take this opportunity prepare themselves for the I-League ahead of the season.
The teams has added few more younger players to the roster. The youngster will look to put a solid performers and impress coaches for the I-League place. Uttam Rai, the India U-19 striker is likely to feature for Dempo and a lot eyes will be on him.
Vasco Sports Club Returns
After playing one season in the tier two of the Goan football Vasco Sports Club will be making its return to the Goa Pro league. The club has given super performance in 1st division and that will boost their confidence. All the fans across Goa would be interested to see the historical club back in the elite league. The boys in black will certainly not find it easy in the league, but they would like to entertain their fans and avoid the drop.
A Chance For Young Players To Shine
One of the unique feature of the Goa Pro League and other state leagues around the country is clubs using a lot of younger players. The smaller clubs like Goa Velha, Wilfred Leisure to name a few, have now earned the reputation of spotting a talent and giving them the opportunity to perform. The striker Chatur Naik and defender Meldon Silva are just two names among many who made a big impression and earning a contract with some of the bigger clubs in Goa. The mandatory rule of fielding 2 U-20 players does not stop these small clubs using just 2 U-20 players in starting eleven. Sometimes you see the majority of the playing eleven players of very young age. This makes these smaller clubs very important in Goan football ecosystem.
Sesa And Tuff Boys Look To Upset.
The northern Goan clubs have taken huge strides in recent times. Sesa Football Academy and Tuff Boys of Mapusa have earned reputation of Giants killers. The clubs showed their mettle last season by threatening the bigger clubs in Goa. Both the clubs make the league more interesting with their attacking brand of football and makes it difficult for some of the I-League clubs. The two clubs will be willing to improve their standing from the last season.
The League is expected to be even stronger this time with no teams looking pushover. This makes the Goa Pro league the number one and most competitive state league in India for the last decade.
