Chain-Quizzing (c)TheHardTackle is back with another new quiz. If you are not aware of the points-system, it goes like this- 10 points for every correct answer and 50 points bonus for the last question (The Pic). The answers will be published exactly 24 hours after the quiz is published. All the best with this edition.
‘A’ is a lover of cricket along with football. He was known for his aerial ability when he played in Serie A. He has played for as many as 12 clubs in his career. ‘A’ has a terrific goal-scoring record playing for Inter.
‘B’ almost formed a lethal partnership with ‘A’, but failed to do so because of injuries to both players. Many believe that the one season that ‘B’ played at a top club in Europe, is the greatest season for any striker in the history of football. ‘B’ shares a unique record with Zinedine Zidane.
‘C’ shares another unique record with ‘B’ in terms of scoring goals in World Cups. Once, infamously, ‘C’ celebrated the first goal for his club diving across the pitch. He is the third highest goal-scorer for his country. He managed his national team for two years.
‘D’ shares a record with ‘C’ as far as scoring goals in European Championship (Euro) goes. ‘D’ is most famous for the stunner he scored for his club in a Champions League final, which was a crucial goal. He started and ended his career at the same club in his own country. ‘D’ represented his country 81 times.
‘E’ has a similar career-path compared to ‘D’. Both started and ended in the same club. Both played important years in the same English club. In his second season at the English club, ‘E’ scored a famous hattrick against Chelsea in the league. ‘E’ had an injury-prone career. He was famous for his lethal left foot scorchers.
Another player famous for his hattrick against Chelsea is ‘F’. He is considered the most decorated player of his continent, having won a huge number of European trophies, along with being an UNICEF Ambassador. He now plays in the second tier of English football and plans to ‘manage’ the team once he retires next year.
‘G’ was ‘F’s team-mate for three years at a club. ‘G’ had the distinction of captaining his first club at the age of 17. At some point of his career, he has received comparisons with Zinedine Zidane. He has played for two top clubs (and rivals) in his home-country. There are two more players of his country in the club he currently plays in.
‘H’ was one of the ‘Young Guns’ in the 2006 World Cup like ‘G’. ‘H’ played with ‘G’ for one year at a club, from where the latter moved to an Italian club. ‘H’ was involved in a bizarre incident in the last season as he was sent off in just one and half minutes, receiving two yellow cards in that time-span. ‘H’ scored a long range stunner in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup.
When ‘H’ moved to this Italian club, he wore the jersey vacated by ‘I’ which the later wore for many years at the club. ‘I’ made his debut for this particular club on the same day as ‘B’ made his debut for the same club and scored two goals that day. He scored one goal for his country in the 2002 FIFA World Cup in a match ending at 3-3, leading to the elimination of his country from the cup.
