La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly intensifying their efforts to prise priority target, Bernardo Silva, away from Manchester City.
According to Spanish journalist David Bernabeu Reverter, Barcelona will soon launch the offensive to sign Bernardo Silva before the ongoing transfer window shuts down. The Manchester City playmaker will be “icing on the cake” for the Catalan giants after a memorable performance in the market.
Bernardo Silva has been one of the most highly sought-after midfielders in the market this summer on the back of a scintillating campaign with 2021/22 Manchester City. The Portuguese midfielder transformed his fortunes considerably after being unsettled at the Etihad last summer.
But after playing a pivotal role in Manchester City’s Premier League title triumph, the 28-year-old has captured the attention of several European bigwigs. Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have shown interest in Silva, but the former AS Monaco playmaker wants to join Barcelona, for whom he is the priority summer target.
Barcelona will hope to cash in on Frenkie de Jong before the summer transfer window shuts down to bring in Silva. While the Catalan giants have registered all but Jules Kounde, they might have trouble utilising Silva in La Liga unless they offload the Dutch midfielder, who has attracted a few clubs this summer.
Recent reports had claimed that Barcelona and Manchester City had agreed to a summer transfer for the Portuguese international, a suggestion the Citizens refuted later. But with Silva keen on joining the Blaugrana, a summer move might see the light of day before the transfer window shuts down.
Personal terms will not be an issue for Barcelona, with recent reports claiming that the two parties have already closed that agreement. And according to David Bernabeu Reverter, Barcelona will now ramp up the efforts to prise the 28-year-old away from Manchester City in the coming weeks.

The Spanish journalist has suggested that Barcelona will launch the offensive to sign Silva next week, and the agreement might soon follow. Pep Guardiola recently admitted that the Portuguese playmaker might leave Manchester City this summer. But he has also insisted that he wants to keep the former AS Monaco talisman in his squad beyond the ongoing transfer window. The next couple of weeks will be intriguing.
