Premier League champions Manchester City have reportedly denied claims that they have reached an agreement with Manchester City for Bernardo Silva.
According to a report by Daily Mail, Manchester City and Barcelona are yet to reach an agreement over a deal for Bernardo Silva, contrary to claims from recent updates. In addition, the defending Premier League champions will demand £80 million to part ways with the Portuguese playmaker in the ongoing transfer window.
Bernardo Silva has transformed his career in twelve months after appearing unsettled at the Etihad at this time last year. But the 28-year-old has become a talismanic figure for Manchester City after a brilliant 2021/22 campaign where he played a leading role in the defence of their Premier League crown.
But Silva remains keen on leaving Manchester City despite being one of the first names on the team sheet. And the Portuguese playmaker’s desire to depart from the Etihad has captured the attention of Barcelona, with the player himself keen on joining the Catalan club in the ongoing transfer window.
The Catalan giants want to replace Frenkie de Jong with Silva while lowering their wage bill at the same time. While de Jong has been a reliable performer for Barcelona, his wages are a problem for the Blaugrana, compelling them to consider replacing the Dutch midfielder with Silva.
Recent reports have claimed that personal problems will not be a problem for Barcelona, with the Manchester City playmaker keen on moving to Camp Nou. And developments this week pointed towards Barcelona reaching an agreement with Manchester City for the Portuguese international.
But the Premier League champions have refuted such suggestions, claiming they have not agreed to a deal for Silva yet. Manchester City will continue to try and keep hold of the 28-year-old while demanding around £80 million to part ways with him in the ongoing transfer window.
