Chelsea have been reportedly offered the chance to sign Manchester City Gabriel Jesus, a target for Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Matt Law of Daily Telegraph, Chelsea could be a potential suitor for Gabriel Jesus, as the interest in the striker continues to expand among London clubs. Arsenal are the reported front runners for the Brazilian, while Tottenham’s name has also been mentioned, with Manchester City demanding £50 million to sell him.
Gabriel Jesus is steadily becoming one of the most talked-about players in the London club circles. Chelsea are the latest team to show an interest in the striker, as he looks certain to depart Manchester City this summer. Arsenal and Tottenham have already been mentioned in the last weeks, and things could get tense.
Manchester City have signed Julian Alvarez and completed the mega transfer of Erling Haaland to kick-start their transfer business early. The arrival of the Norwegian, in particular, will likely limit Jesus’s playing time next season, and with the 2022 FIFA World Cup approaching, the forward needs to play regularly.
Playing time could be the main factor for Jesus zeroing in on his new club, although Arsenal were considered front-runners at one stage. The Gunners remain in the hunt for the Brazilian, but they now face competition from Tottenham and Chelsea.
The Blues have reportedly entered the chase, with Thomas Tuchel considering changing his attacking options. Chelsea are supposedly willing to let Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech leave in the summer transfer window and may look at a new forward to fill the void left by the Belgian.
Inter Milan are negotiating with Chelsea to bring back Lukaku to San Siro, while there are clubs keen on signing Werner. Hence Chelsea could be looking at Jesus as a potential replacement, although they are also reportedly hunting for his teammate Raheem Sterling.
Tottenham are also interested in Jesus, but with their acquisition of Dejan Kulusevski and the settled nature of the partnership between Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, it is difficult to see Jesus getting regular game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Jesus will have a big decision in the current window, as all three of the big London sides are vying for his signature. In the end, it will come down to which of those sides can offer him regular playing time. His £50 million price tag might complicate matters, too.
