Chelsea are ready to pounce on Aaron Ramsey’s situation at Arsenal and are preparing a sensational £30 million move for the Welsh International.
Chelsea are preparing themselves to make a quick attempt to make a move for Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal, as his contract situation remains unchanged at the Emirates. According to The Mail, Chelsea are preparing a £30 million offer for the Welshman who has 12 months left on his current Gunners deal.
As the Blues look to life in the new era led by Maurizio Sarri, and despite being a late entrant in the current transfer window, they are ready to make another statement of intent with the prospective signing of Welsh International star, Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal.
Arsenal’s talks with Aaron Ramsey over a new deal are dragging on, and Chelsea are sniffing a potential opportunity to try and bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge. Many believe that he could stay at Arsenal, but that hasn’t stopped some of the top teams from registering an interest in the Welshman.
But Chelsea are set to show they are interested in Ramsey and could make a formal offer to Arsenal for the midfielder towards the end of the transfer window. There is a feeling the current negotiations between Ramsey and Arsenal are set to run until the end of the window, and it indeed would be a late transfer decision if he becomes available.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are confident of finding a breakthrough in their effort to renew Ramsey’s deal and hold hope that the accord is mutual. Unai Emery, recently on their tour of Singapore suggested he’s confident Ramsey will sign new terms and stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
But Arsenal are likely to keep their options open in the market if Ramsey decides not to renew. As the talks are expected to head till the end of the window, there could be a sale of Ramsey if he chooses to enter the last year of his deal. In that scenario, he would be free to negotiate with another club in January.
As Arsenal have been efficient in the window so far, strengthening their core areas, Emery is hoping for squad harmony and wants to focus on matters on the training ground. The club and Emery consider Ramsey to be one of their most important players and the Spaniard is also reportedly ready to make him his new captain.
For Arsenal, an event where Ramsey decides to enter the last year of his deal without signing an extension would be the repeat of their famous mismanagement of the Alexis Sanchez situation from last season. Sanchez began the final six months of his deal and ended up joining Manchester United back in January. Emery has reportedly urged Arsenal to finalise the agreement before the end of the transfer window.
Chelsea could hope to make the signing if things between Arsenal and Ramsey turn sour. In that case, a £30 million offer is expected to be enough to convince Arsenal to sell their long-standing midfielder. Fans and other players have this feeling he might eventually stay, but football, especially the transfer window could come with a surprise once in a while.
