Arsenal have reportedly beaten the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City to secure the signing of Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer.
Bosnian outlet Reprezentacija have ran a BIH-Scout exclusive which claims that Arsenal have secured the services of Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer. The Gunners have beaten the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City among others on course to signing the player on Bosman.
As per the report, Arsenal have reached a Bosman agreement with Kolasinac, which entails that the player is set to join the club in the summer, when his Schalke deal gets over. Arsenal fans will be elated with their club’s urgency in the transfer market.
Indeed, the left-back position was one of the areas of concern and a position needing reinforcement before the next campaign. Nacho Monreal, the current-first choice is on the wrong side of 30 and has no true competition in the squad.
Kieran Gibbs is present in the first-team setup but he has failed to establish himself even as a cover for Monreal, let alone compete to be the first-choice at Emirates. Arsenal did sign Cohen Bramall in January but the player is still seen as some distance away from being first-choice material.

Sead Kolasinac was a heavily sought-after prospect, especially in the Premier League. Chelsea needed a cover and competition, possibly even an upgrade for Marcos Alonso while Liverpool have been longing for a natural left-back to add, which would free up James Milner for the midfield role.
Manchester City, too, have been searching for a new, much younger left-back to be the first-choice at Etihad. And Sead Kolasinac is quality enough to boss the left side of the defence under Guardiola.
However, Arsenal seemed to have foiled everyone else’s chances by moving fast to secure the services of the 23-year-old, who has been making waves in Europe with his impressive displays for Schalke.
He has 31 appearances in all competitions so far this season and his return of 3 goals and 7 assists prove he is a healthy contributor to the attack as well.
Arsenal fans would be relishing the prospect of Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin bossing on either side of the defence. It would be intriguing to see how Kolasinac adapts to the Premier League and whether his arrival can brighten up Arsenal’s chances of a Premier League triumph.
