Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Cesc Fabregas and are said to be lining up a summer move for the Chelsea midfielder
Italian publication Calciomercato have reported that Inter Milan are pondering a summer move for Cesc Fabregas. The Nerazzurri are set to join the likes of AC Milan, Manchester United and Real Madrid in pursuit of the Chelsea midfielder.
Fabregas has been in and out of the side ever since Antonio Conte assumed charge at Chelsea at the start of the season. In fact, for the better part of the campaign, the Spaniard has had to make do with being an impact sub, with Conte favouring Nemanja Matic alongside the ever-present N’Golo Kante in the centre of the park.
As a result, Fabregas has managed to start just seven Premier League games so far this term. But as has been the case several times over the course of the season, the 29-year-old has proven to be an asset for Conte with unparalleled vision and passing range and creativity that is unmatched in the Chelsea ranks.
Fabregas, in fact, has provided the most assists (7) of all the Chelsea players in the English top-flight, coming up with the trumps at several clutch moments for the Blues. However, owing to a shortage of opportunities coming his way, the Spain international has been constantly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
In fact, several clubs have been circling around the player, Fenerbahce, AS Roma, West Ham United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester United all heavily linked with Fabregas in recent months. Inter Milan are now the latest club to enter the market for the Spaniard.
The Serie A giants have recently been bought by the cash-rich Suning Group, who have lofty ambitions to take the club back to the summit of Italian and European football. They have, thus, been eyeing several players as part of a possible summer move, and big money deals are starting to be lined up.
Midfield is one of the top priorities for the Nerazzurri, and Marco Verratti has been identified as their number one target. However, the Italy international is also being tailed by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea, while it is also believed that the youngster is not ready to move away from PSG yet.
In that case, Inter are keeping Fabregas as a contingency plan. However, the Spaniard recently played down exit talks, insisting that he is not interested in leaving Stamford Bridge any time soon. He has also started getting game time more regularly with Conte rotating Matic and Fabregas instead of favouring one over the other.
If Fabregas indeed does not look for a move away from Chelsea in the summer, Inter and the rest of his suitors will have to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements.
