Real Madrid and Manchester City have joined a host of European giants in pursuit of Celtic superstar Moussa Dembele, as per reports.
The race to sign Moussa Dembele in the summer is hotting up and it looks like it could turn into an all out bidding war. According to an exclusive from Get French Football News, Real Madrid and Manchester City are the latest clubs to enter the chase for the Celtic striker, joining several European heavyweights in his pursuit.
Moussa Dembele is becoming one of the most highly sought after young players in world football as his stock continues to rise. The young Frenchman has been on fire this season, and he boasts one of the best scoring records in Europe currently.
Only signed by Celtic from Championship side Fulham this past summer, Dembele has turned into the Scottish champions’ talisman. His prolific run has seen him hit the back of the net 27 times while providing six assists in 41 matches, scoring a goal every 105 minutes.
His exploits have seen Dembele spark interest from several top clubs across Europe who want to secure his services in the summer. In fact, Chelsea were on the cusp of signing him on deadline day in the winter transfer window before the move failed to materialise.
With the deal not taking place in January, several clubs have now joined the race to make a summer move for Dembele. These include Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich with each club preparing their own offers to land the 20-year-old.
Each of these clubs is reported to be in the market for a striker and are scouting several different players to add to their squads in the summer. Dembele, though, is one of the most promising of these attackers, and with a lot of potential and development ahead of him, he could pose himself as one of the most appealing of targets.
And now Manchester City and Real Madrid have entered the mix to sign Dembele, and it’s starting to look like an all out bidding war might be in the offing come June.
City are in a precarious situation with regards to Sergio Aguero’s situation at the club. Should the Argentine leave the club in the summer, Guardiola will have just Gabriel Jesus and Kelechi Iheanacho as his options, opening up a slot for Dembele in the squad.
Meanwhile at Real Madrid, Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata are both reportedly on their way out of Santiago Bernabeu, meaning Zinedine Zidane is on the lookout for a top striker. While Dembele might not be there yet, he has shown a lot of promise that the Real Madrid boss can work with.
So, clubs are slowly starting to realise just how special a talent Moussa Dembele is, and are lining up in the queue to acquire the young Frenchman. It will be interesting to see now where the 20-year-old heads in the summer, with Celtic facing a tough fight on their hands to retain him.
