Everton line up summer move for Troy Parrott, may have advantage

Everton are interested in a move for Troy Parrott, and rival Tottenham for the Irish international’s signature ahead of the summer.

Everton are preparing for a busy summer window with a few key additions planned by their transfer committee. As per TEAMtalk, Troy Parrott is a key target for the close season as David Moyes eyes a new striker, and the club could rival Tottenham for the AZ Alkmaar star.

Everton are planning ahead for a busy summer window, irrespective of whether they achieve European football at the end of the current campaign. David Moyes wants to reinforce key areas of the squad, especially the centre-forward role, with Thierno Barry’s future called into question as Beto continued to cement his.

A new striker is on the agenda amid ambitious links to Ivan Toney, as an example, while there are other names being considered, as per media reports. Troy Parrott is another name high on their list, with Moyes intently looking into the idea of signing the Irish striker.

Parrott came into prominence right before the January window after his impressive display for Ireland against Portugal to help them qualify for the World Cup playoff spot. Tottenham were interested then, and they are still keen on re-signing the player they let go a few years ago. Spurs are impressed by his performances, which have yielded 41 goal contributions this season for AZ Alkmaar.

Everton are ready to rival Tottenham for the signature of Parrott, and may have a key advantage should they approach. As per the report, the AZ Alkmaar star is a boyhood fan of the Toffees, which could give them the leeway in getting him over the line.

Will Troy Parrott move to Everton?

Everton and Spurs are not the only ones in the race, as Leeds United and West Ham have been interested for a few months now. There’s also overseas interest, with AC Milan one of the clubs reportedly interested. However, the Toffees may have the edge in the race, given they could potentially offer Parrott a key role in the side.

A return to the Premier League, and probably playing European football of some sort with Everton, could be a big factor, although he could also be open to the idea of Tottenham. The north Londoners are probably an option if they stay up and provide there’s a key role in that team for the Irish international, which does give the Toffees the upper hand in this race.
