Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign out-of-favour 24-year-old French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
A report by Arthur Perrot on French outlet RMC Sport has revealed that out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain shot-stopper is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer window.
The latest report has revealed that the struggling North London giants have submitted an enquiry to discuss his situation. However, a summer move will be “contingent on Tottenham avoiding relegation from the Premier League” this season.
Lucas Chevalier and his PSG problems
Lucas Chevalier has seen his stock plummet since joining Paris Saint-Germain from LOSC Lille last summer. The 24-year-old was among the best players in Ligue 1 and won the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award in the 2024/25 season. However, he has gradually fallen in the pecking order, with Matvey Safonov becoming the first-choice shot-stopper for PSG this season.
While the French shot-stopper has amassed over 2,000 minutes of game time in 26 appearances thus far in the 2025/26 season, he has not started the last 16 matches for PSG. However, Chevalier’s stock remains high, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Lucas Chevalier has been on Tottenham Hotspur’s wishlist for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, as Guglielmo Vicario faces an uncertain future at the North London club amid his reported desire to return to Serie A. Recent reports have claimed that the Italian international has an agreement with principle with Inter Milan for a summer move.
So, Tottenham must dip into the market for a goalkeeper this summer, with Chevalier emerging as a viable target. The 24-year-old Frenchman may be eager to resurrect his fortunes, as being a backup goalkeeper for PSG will have hurt his prospects of joining the French national squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
However, with Tottenham involved in the relegation dogfight, a summer move is not certain. The Lilywhites are in the drop zone after failing to beat Brighton & Hove Albion this past weekend. So, they will be concerned about their prospects of landing their top targets, including Chevalier.
