Leeds United prioritising summer move for Mohamed Amoura

Leeds United will reportedly prioritise signing 25-year-old Algerian international Mohamed Amoura from relegation-threatened Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg this summer.

According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, VfL Wolfsburg centre-forward Mohamed Amoura is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a striker in the upcoming transfer window.

The latest update has revealed that the Tahir native has been the subject of scouting missions by the West Yorkshire outfit for several months. Additionally, they have identified Amoura as a priority target for the summer transfer window.

How has Mohamed Amoura performed in the Bundesliga?

Mohamed Amoura has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining VfL Wolfsburg from Union Saint-Gilloise. Die Wolfe initially signed the 25-year-old on loan in July 2024 before completing a permanent move last summer. The 25-year-old was exceptional in his debut season but has suffered a dip in form this term, with the club at risk of suffering relegation from the Bundesliga.

Amoura has still managed a decent tally of eight goals and four assists in 27 Bundesliga outings. Meanwhile, despite his hit-and-miss form, the Algerian striker remains a target for several well-known clubs. An adventure in the Premier League may be on the cards, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Mohamed Amoura makes sense. While Daniel Farke has several strikers in his squad, Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are the only centre-forwards to make a mark this season. Even they have blown hot and cold, which has compelled Leeds United to seek a solution from the market.

Additionally, Joel Piroe faces an uncertain future at Elland Road, and a summer departure is on the cards for the 26-year-old after struggling for regular game time this season. So, Leeds United must dip into the market for a striker, with Amoura emerging as a viable target.

The Wolfsburg striker may be available for a cost-effective fee if the Wolves fail to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga this season. So, Leeds United will keep a keen eye on the situation as they prioritise a summer move for the 25-year-old Algerian international.
