Bayern Munich rival Real Madrid in Pape Matar Sarr race

Real Madrid are set to face stiff competition from Bayern Munich in their pursuit of Tottenham midfield mainstay Pape Matar Sarr.

Pape Matar Sarr’s future has been up in the air amidst Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles in the Premier League. The Senegalese international could be on the move this summer, amidst interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

According to a report from Football Insider, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are both set to battle it out for the signature of the 23-year-old, who has emerged as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the Premier League with his consistent performances for Spurs.

Even in a season where the North London club are fighting for survival, Sarr has still managed to put in quite a few impressive performances. The youngster has racked up close to 2,200 minutes in his 34 appearances, and he even has five goal contributions. In the Premier League, he has won 5.66 ground duels (per 90), while it’s 1.8 (per 90) when it comes to aerial duels. His defensive contribution stands at 12.1 (per 90).

He has impressed everyone with his strong physical presence, composure on the ball, and the ability to initiate attacks from deeper positions. However, with the club struggling, Sarr has not been able to reach his true potential at Tottenham, and he could be ready to make the jump to a bigger club.

European giants to battle for Sarr

Bayer Munich and Real Madrid are both keen on signing Pape Matar Sarr. They are keeping tabs on his availability ahead of this summer’s transfer window. Tottenham’s transfer plans will depend on which league they are playing in. A potential drop to the Championship will certainly result in Sarr’s departure.

Amidst uncertainty around Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga’s future, investing in Sarr would certainly make a lot of sense. As far as Bayern Munich are concerned, Leon Goretzka is leaving the club as a free agent at the end of the season, and the Tottenham midfielder could take his place in their setup.

While the 23-year-old is highly valued and still has a deal until 2030 at Tottenham, he could be available for a bargain fee if Spurs get relegated. If they survive the drop, they could try everything in their power to ensure Sarr continues in North London.
