Axel Disasi open to summer move to West Ham United

Axel Disasi would be open to joining West Ham United beyond his current loan spell, with a deal contingent on Premier League survival.

According to Sebastien Vidal, West Ham have a strong chance to retain Axel Disasi beyond the defender’s current loan spell. The 28-year-old Chelsea misfit does not have a future at Stamford Bridge, as a host of Premier League sides are showing an interest in signing him, although the Frenchman would be open to extending his stay at the London Stadium.

Axel Disasi has come a long way this season alone, given he was frozen out at Chelsea alongside Raheem Sterling, and did not play a single minute until his loan move to West Ham. The French defender barely took any time to adjust and has played each of the eight games since his move to the London Stadium.

In fact, West Ham have revived their season to an extent since the defender’s arrival in January, losing just two of the eight games he has featured in. Disasi has played the full ninety in each of those encounters, as West Ham had pondered a permanent deal for the 28-year-old Chelsea misfit.

Disasi is reportedly open to the idea of joining West Ham permanently should they avoid relegation and restore their Premier League status. While things are looking bright in that aspect, any deal will still need the Hammers to negotiate terms with Chelsea over the fee and other elements, as the club have planned on holding talks.

The Frenchman already has a starting place in this West Ham side, who are now edging towards securing safety. A win over Crystal Palace will bring a further boost to their chances following Tottenham’s late draw against Brighton. Hence, the Hammers have a brilliant chance to secure players of the quality of the 28-year-old Frenchman.

Is Disasi attracting interest from others?

Fulham and Aston Villa are also keen on Disasi, with each of those teams looking closely at his performances at West Ham before coming to this idea. Unai Emery has already worked with the Frenchman last season, but Fulham could be a strong competitor, given that they could offer him a key spot on their side.

Fulham could also have the added advantage of letting Disasi continue to live and play in London, but the same could be said about West Ham. At the moment, the Hammers might be in a better position to get a deal through, given his defined role there, but as mentioned earlier, the move will depend on their ability to stay up in the Premier League.
