Arsenal, Manchester United front-runners to sign Eduardo Camavinga

Arsenal and Manchester United are in pole position to sign Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, amidst interest from Chelsea.

Eduardo Camavinga’s future has been up in the air in recent weeks. He has been extensively linked with a move away from Real Madrid, and according to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal and Manchester United are keen on having the French international on their roster.

While Chelsea are also keen on signing the Frenchman, the Gunners and the Red Devils are believed to be leading the race at this point. Camavinga remains an important part of their squad, but with the player not starting games regularly and Premier League clubs ready to pay a premium for him, Los Blancos could open the doors for his departure. They are expected to demand around €60 million to sanction the departure of the 23-year-old.

Eduardo Camavinga arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 from Stade Rennais as an exciting teenager. The 23-year-old has since gone on to establish himself as a key figure in the team, and he has played a big part in their two Champions League and La Liga triumphs.

Over the years, he has been involved in 217 matches and has contributed towards 17 goals. While the majority of his appearances have come in the middle of the park, Camavinga has chipped in as a left-back on quite a few occasions, and he can even feature in advanced roles on the left flank.

Camavinga could be heading to England

While Eduardo Camavinga remains an important member of their squad, his future is up in the air because of limited game time, inconsistent performances and serious interest from the Premier League. Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with the 23-year-old.

The Blues do not seem to be that keen, but Manchester United and Arsenal are believed to be the two most serious suitors. They have a concrete interest in him and are currently front-runners to sign the French international.

With Casemiro leaving as a free agent after this season and Manuel Ugarte likely to be sold, the Red Devils are looking to revamp their midfield, and they would love to bring in a versatile player like Camavinga to be a part of their project for the long run.

Meanwhile, Arsenal already have a solid midfield core, but Mikel Arteta is keen on further bolstering his rotation options by securing the services of the Real Madrid utility man. He could also be an upgrade on Christian Norgaard.

While no official bids have been made yet, offers of between €55-60 million are expected from Premier League sides once the transfer window opens. Los Blancos will have the upper hand in negotiations with his contract running until 2029, and the reports suggest Camavinga will demand a hefty weekly salary if he were to move to England.
