Savinho could force Manchester City exit this summer

Savinho could reportedly push for an exit from Manchester City after losing his importance in the team, with Tottenham still keen.

Savinho could have left last summer, and probably even in January, but Pep Guardiola chose to keep hold of the Brazilian. Ahead of the summer, the winger could push for an exit out of Manchester City, as per Football Insider, as he seeks to play an important role, with Tottenham still interested.

Tottenham failed with two separate bids for Savinho last summer, as per widespread reports on the winger’s situation. Earlier, Manchester City were seemingly open to doing a deal for the attacker, but in the end, they were reluctant to part ways and weaken their squad to an extent.

With talk of a move for Antoine Semenyo taking precedence over at the Etihad, Savinho was once again linked with a move away, with Tottenham maintaining their interest then. However, it may have been Guardiola’s decision to keep hold of the attacker, and the manager might maintain his stance heading into the summer.

Barcelona also pondered a loan move in January, but ultimately Savinho stayed put and has barely been able to contribute to Manchester City’s title push. With Semenyo now cementing his place on the right wing, there is talk of the Brazilian now eager to move away from the Etihad, as he could push for an exit.

The winger, signed in a €40 million deal from Girona in 2024, could seek a new challenge where his game time is substantially more and he has a key place in the squad. Manchester City might be open to keeping hold of him beyond the upcoming summer window, as it will be on Savinho to knock on the exit door if he seeks to leave the club.

Tottenham still in the mix for Savinho?

The news of Savinho possibly exiting the club will certainly excite Tottenham to a degree, as they continue to retain an interest in the Manchester City star. However, the circumstances around the north London side have changed since last summer or even January, as they must stay in the Premier League to stand a chance of making signings like the Brazilian attacker.

Savinho might be open to the idea of joining Spurs should they avoid relegation, although he would certainly have offers from elsewhere if that move does not materialise. Tottenham’s relegation battle may also play a part in his decision. Manchester City are not expected to place the player for sale, as the winger would decide to leave, and he must engineer an exit if he wants a new challenge.
