Sevilla eyeing summer move for Armin Pecsi

Relegation-threatened La Liga club Sevilla will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Liverpool goalkeeping prospect Armin Pecsi is the subject of interest from Sevilla. The Andalusian giants are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a new shot-stopper ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Los Nervionenses will dip into the market for two goalkeepers in the upcoming transfer window. Orjan Nyland may leave Sevilla as a free agent this summer, while the relegation-threatened La Liga club won’t have the funds to afford a permanent move for Odysseas Vlachodimos, despite Newcastle United’s openness to sanction his move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Who is Armin Pecsi?

Armin Pecsi has made significant progress since joining Liverpool from Puskas AFC last summer. Born in Hainburg an der Donau, the 21-year-old spent his formative years in Hungary and graduated from the youth division at Puskas AFC. However, the youngster has played for Liverpool’s reserve team this season.

While the Hungarian shot-stopper has conceded 29 goals and kept only four clean sheets in 16 Premier League 2 appearances, he has been impressive between the sticks for Liverpool’s under-21 side. Meanwhile, Pecsi’s progress has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, with Sevilla among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.

La Liga adventure on the horizon?

Sevilla’s interest in Armin Pecsi is understandable. The Andalusian giants are scouring the market for multiple goalkeepers, as Orjan Nyland is expected to depart from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium as a free agent after the 2025/26 season. Additionally, Sevilla may struggle to afford a permanent deal for Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Additionally, with Newcastle United already receiving offers for the Greek international, Sevilla may lose the battle for his signature. So, Los Nervionenses must look elsewhere for a new shot-stopper, with Pecsi emerging as a viable target.

The latest report has revealed that Liverpool may sanction a loan departure for Pecsi this summer to help him gain first-team experience at a top-flight club. With Vlachodimos being Sevilla’s first-choice goalkeeper this season, Pecsi can take over that role if the Greek international does not complete a permanent move to the relegation-threatened La Liga club in the coming months.
