Liam Rosenior wants Chelsea to sign Goncalo Inacio; Liverpool, Manchester United also keen

Liam Rosenior wants Chelsea to beat Liverpool and Manchester United to the signature of Sporting CP defensive sensation Goncalo Inacio.

According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on acquiring the services of Goncalo Inacio. Liam Rosenior is pushing the board to land the Portuguese international, as he looks to take Chelsea back to the top of European football. However, they will face stiff competition from Manchester United and Liverpool, who are also interested in the youngster.

Inacio has come up the ranks at Sporting, and he has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2020. Not only has he established himself as a key figure at the club, but he is also a constant feature in the Portuguese national team.

The 24-year-old has impressed one and all with his consistent performances in the heart of the defence. In the ongoing campaign, he has been involved in 40 matches and has even contributed towards five goals. His performances in the Champions League, in particular, have been exceptional.

The fact that Sporting only conceded one goal against Arsenal in their quarter-final tie speaks volumes about Inacio’s defensive abilities. His performances have placed him on the radar of a number of English clubs, who are set to battle it out for his signature.

While his contract runs until 2030 and he is protected by a €60 million release clause, the report suggests Sporting would be open to negotiations as long as the offer has an attractive performance-related bonus.

Premier League giants to battle for Inacio

Manchester United and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on him for some time. While the Red Devils have renewed Harry Maguire’s contract, they intend to sign a young centre-back who can become one of the cornerstones of their project.

Inacio is considered an ideal fit for their setup. Meanwhile, Liverpool are looking at the Portuguese defender as someone who can help replace Virgil van Dijk in the long run. While the competition for his signature will be fierce, Chelsea are looking to take the lead.

Liam Rosenior wants a quality centre-back who can quickly adapt to the demands of the Premier League. He has asked for Inacio’s signing, as the 24-year-old is great on the ball and has the physical attributes needed. Given the kind of pace he has, he could form a reliable partnership with Levi Colwill. With three of the biggest clubs in England after him, it will be interesting to see who wins the race and at what price.
