Chelsea eyeing Victor Froholdt as Enzo Fernandez replacement, price revealed

Chelsea are plotting a raid on FC Porto to sign Victor Froholdt as they look for an ideal Enzo Fernandez replacement.

Ezno Fernandez’s future has been a massive talking point for months. His recent comments and two-game ban certainly did not help the cause. While the Argentine midfielder did apologise and peace was restored following talks between all parties involved, the Chelsea star could still force an exit in the summer.

The Blues have already started planning for the potential departure of the World Cup winner. They are looking at targets who can replace the Argentine international in their setup.  According to Correio da Manha via Sport Witness, Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of Victor Froholdt, who is doing wonders for FC Porto.

After coming up the ranks at FC Copenhagen and making a name for himself while playing for their first team, the 20-year-old made the move to Porto last summer in a deal worth €20 million plus add-ons. He has established himself as one of the most important players under Francesco Farioli.

The youngster is having a record-breaking season at the Portuguese club. The Danish international has 13 goal contributions, which is already a career best, and he is set to beat his career-high totals for minutes and matches. He has featured in 45 out of Porto’s 46 matches and has racked up 3,556 minutes.

While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, the 20-year-old can take up an attacking role and can also feature on the flanks when needed. Victor Froholdt’s impressive rise and consistent performances have placed him on Chelsea’s radar.

Chelsea are ready to make a move for Froholdt

The West London club’s scouts were in the stands to watch Victor Froholdt in action against Nottingham Forest, and they seem convinced about his potential. Since he is an ideal fit for their project, the Blues are ready to make a move in case Fernandez ends up leaving.

The Dane is a high-intensity midfielder who can operate in a variety of positions, just like the Argentine international. While Fernandez’s departure is not certain, if it does happen, the Blues will have to break the bank to sign a replacement, as Porto want close to his €85 million release clause to sell Froholdt.

FC Porto are convinced about him being a record-breaking sale, and will stick to their demands. Chelsea, for now, will only make a move if Fernandez’s future is away from Stamford Bridge.
