Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly scouting Norwegian wonderkid Eirik Granaas ahead of a potential transfer.
According to a report by TV 2, Arsenal are interested in securing the services of Eirik Granaas, and they have been scouting him of late. The North London outfit could make a move for the 16-year-old midfielder, with an eye on the future.
Granaas came into the limelight when he broke Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard’s long-standing record of becoming the youngest top-flight player of all time. The teenage sensation made his professional debut when he was just 15 years and 90 days old.
While Valerenga’s Gabriel Rajkovic has taken over the record, the Fredrikstad sensation has been putting in impressive performances over the last 12 months, and it has not gone unnoticed.
The teenage midfield sensation finds himself on the wishlist of a number of European clubs, and Arsenal are one of the clubs vying for his signature. The Gunners are constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential. Recent reports have linked them with several prodigies, including Jeremy Monga, and Granaas seems to fit the bill.
The 16-year-old has shown that he is a rare talent. While he only had a five-minute cameo against Aalesund last week, Granaas did end up winning the game for his side. His performances have forced a number of clubs to send scouts to watch him in action.
Arsenal are scouting Granaas
Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been extensively monitoring him ahead of a potential transfer. There is no doubt that the Norwegian wonderkid is a special talent, given how early he made his professional debut. However, it will be interesting to see what kind of reports the North London club’s scouts prepare on Granaas.
He is valued at around 40 million kroner, which is roughly around €3.5 million. So, the price tag certainly won’t be a problem for Arsenal. While other clubs also like the youngster, the Gunners are by far the biggest to be linked with the teenager. They certainly have the financial strength to outpower others, but in the end, it might come down to the player’s desire and what he feels is right for his development as a player.
