Liverpool consider offering new deal to Alisson Becker

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been linked with a summer move away from the club, with Juventus interested in him.

Alisson Becker will enter the final year of his contract in the summer, and Juventus are hoping to secure his signature. However, a report from a Football Insider claims that Liverpool could now offer him a new contract.

Initially, there were rumours Liverpool could sell the veteran goalkeeper for €15 million in the summer. However, a summer departure may not be on the cards, as the Premier League champions are mulling over tying him to a new contract.

The Brazilian international, who joined Liverpool from AS Roma in a €62.5 million deal, is not just a quality goalkeeper but also one of the leaders of the dressing room. Jurgen Klopp’s hugely successful Liverpool team has mostly left the club, and he is one of the last men standing from that group.

Liverpool are looking to put together a young team for the future. However, they will still need experience and leadership in the squad. Keeping the Brazilian goalkeeper could prove to be a wise decision.

The 33-year-old is still very much at the peak of his career, and he could be a key player for Liverpool next season as well. Even though Liverpool have Giorgi Mamardashvilli as the alternative option, the Georgian International has hardly set the league alight when given the opportunity. It would be ideal for him to continue as the backup goalkeeper.

Transfer blow for Juventus

Meanwhile, the development will come as a blow for the Italian club, who were hoping to secure his signature. The Bianconeri need more quality and depth in the team if they want to fight for major trophies again. They have not been able to compete for the league title in recent years.

Signing a world-class player like Alisson could make a big difference. Alisson could have been an upgrade on Michele Di Gregorio in the short term. The former AS Roma stopper has extensive experience competing at the highest level and has helped Liverpool win the Premier League title twice and the UEFA Champions League, as well as other domestic competitions.

The 33-year-old has played in Italy for AS Roma and could have made an immediate impact at Juventus. Apart from his performances on the pitch. He could’ve been an invaluable addition in the dressing room as well. It remains to be seen whether Juventus decide to move on to other options now.

Liverpool will be hoping to secure the long-term future of the 33-year-old Brazilian international soon, and it remains to be seen whether all parties can come to an agreement quickly.
