Tottenham ready to offer £25 million for Arthur Vermeeren, price tag revealed

Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham are ready to table a £25 million offer to sign RB Leipzig defensive midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.

Belgian midfield sensation Arthur Vermeeren, who is currently on loan at Olympique Marseille, could be heading to the Premier League. The French club are unlikely to trigger the buy option, and he is set to return to his parent club, RB Leipzig.

The German club could then look to cash in on the 21-year-old, amidst interest from a Premier League club. According to a report from Fussballdaten, Tottenham are keen on acquiring his services as they look to reinforce their midfield, and they are ready to submit an offer of around £25 million to try and lure him.

Vermeeren had an impressive rise at Royal Antwerp, and on the back of it, Atletico Madrid signed him at the start of 2024. However, things didn’t quite click for him at the Spanish club, and six months down the line, he ended up joining Leipzig on loan.

Vermeeren’s move to Marseille

On the back of a decent season, the German club secured his services on a permanent basis, but they immediately ended up sending him out on loan to Marseille. Roberto De Zerbi was keen on having him at his disposal.

While he was a key figure under the Italian manager, things haven’t been that great since his departure. He has struggled for game time (21 matches and just over 1,000 minutes in total), and Marseille are no longer keen on paying the €20 million to make the move permanent.

He is no longer a part of their plans moving forward, and they are not willing to fork out that big a fee amidst financial uncertainties. With him set to return to Leipzig, Tottenham are plotting a raid on the German club.

Reinforcing the midfield is going to be a top priority for the North London club. They want someone who can contribute in different roles and be a part of their project for years to come. They consider Vermeeren an ideal fit and are gearing up to make a move.

The North London club are prepairing an offer worth £25 million. Since he is not a key figure at Leipzig, they could be open to a potential departure. However, they could look for a bigger fee.

He is currently valued at €22 million, and the German club is expected to look for around €30-35 million to open negotiations. His camp is looking for a salary of around €4-5 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for Spurs. However, he also wants a clear development plan for himself.

While Tottenham are not in the best of positions currently, De Zerbi has a great relationship with the 21-year-old, and that could come to their aid. However, the entire operation could cost them around €40 million.
