Liverpool, Manchester City join Arsenal in Christian Kofane race

Liverpool and Manchester City have joined Arsenal in the race for Christian Kofane, with the striker in with a chance to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

Christian Kofane has made a big impact on some of the big-name clubs in England, as Liverpool and Manchester City become the latest to join the race. As per Team Talk, the Premier League giants are ready to rival Arsenal for the Cameroonian attacker, with Bayer Leverkusen likely to contemplate a big sale for the right offer.
Patrik Schick has been Bayer Leverkusen’s starting No. 9 for some time, and while he has assumed the role for the most part as a starter, Christian Kofane has taken his chances when afforded one, including in the Champions League round of 16 against Arsenal, which has since prompted speculation over his future.

Arsenal have since been linked with Kofane ahead of the summer, and now they are joined by Liverpool and Manchester City in the race. The idea of adding the 19-year-old Bundesliga striker to the mix is viewed largely as a market opportunity, given how he has shone during the limited time on the pitch this season for Leverkusen.

Liverpool are in the market for wide attackers and remains linked with fellow Bundesliga attacker Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, among others. A striker is not currently seen as a priority given their outlay on Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike last summer, with the duo likely to assume the main centre-forward roles next season.

Manchester City are also stacked with quality strikers, including January arrival Antoine Semenyo, who can play centrally. Erling Haaland remains the obvious starting choice under Pep Guardiola, which does cast a question mark over their pursuit of Kofane, who might not get regular game time compared to some of the other interested clubs.

Are Arsenal the most serious about Christian Kofane?

Arsenal have been quoted €60–70 million if they wish to sign Kofane, as per reports, and they are not alone in the race. With Liverpool and Manchester City joining the chase lately, there are other big teams eager to explore a move for the 19-year-old Bundesliga striker, although the Gunners are now seen as the most serious contender for the Cameroonian striker.

Arsenal could sell Atletico Madrid-linked Gabriel Jesus and then add another striker to the mix. Mikel Arteta would prefer someone of Kofane’s quality — young and with a massive ceiling to develop his game further — although any move will ultimately depend on the final asking price from Leverkusen.
