Maximiliano Araujo has been linked with multiple Premier League clubs in recent months, with Chelsea and Tottenham already making contact to sign him.
Maximiliano Araujo has been a key player for Sporting CP, registering ten goal contributions in all competitions this season. Araujo is a left-back who can also operate as a wing-back or winger.
The Uruguayan international could help out at both ends of the pitch, and he could be a very useful option for Chelsea and Tottenham, with the two London clubs planning to sign him this summer.
According to a report by Jornal De Noticisas (h/t Sport Witness), Chelsea and Tottenham have been impressed by Araujo’s performances during their recent scouting mission against Arsenal, and it seems they are prepared to scout the player again in the coming weeks.
It will be interesting to see if they decide to follow up on their interest with an official offer for Araujo in the summer. Meanwhile, Manchester United scouted Araujo a few months ago.

Chelsea and Spurs could use Araujo
Chelsea need more depth at left-back. Maximiliano Araujo could compete with Marc Cucurella for the starting spot if he joins the club. More competition for places will help both players improve and Chelsea progress as a team.
On the other hand, Tottenham will need to replace Ben Davies. The Welsh international will leave when his contract expires, and they need to find a quality alternative. Spurs have Souza at their disposal, but the South American is a young player, and he will need time to adapt to English football.
The North London outfit need a more experienced option who can start more regularly for them. The 26-year-old Sporting CP star could be ideal. The South American wide man has a release clause worth around €80 million in his contract.
However, it is extremely unlikely that any club would pay that kind of money for a left-back. Therefore, the Portuguese club would be open to starting negotiations for a fee of around €40 million. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea or Tottenham can get the deal done in the coming months.
