According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have initiated talks with Mateus Fernandes’ agency over a potential summer move. The midfielder has shone in this West Ham side fighting for relegation, as Liverpool, along with Arsenal and Manchester City, are the teams keen.
West Ham’s battle with relegation could pave the way for some of the top teams to take a closer look at a few of their top-performing stars. There’s always little to admire from teams battling relegation, but in the case of the Hammers, the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville, and Mateus Fernandes have shone, with the latter already a big target for some of the top-six sides.
Liverpool and Arsenal are linked with the midfielder, with the latter already initiating talks with Fernandes’ agency Gestifute to explore a possible deal. The main reason for the Merseysiders to enter the race is due to the uncertain future of Real Madrid-linked Alexis Mac Allister, as the West Ham man could be seen as an ideal replacement.
West Ham are keen to hold on to Fernandes, although he could push for an exit if the club suffers relegation. Irrespective of whether the Hammers go down, the Portuguese midfielder is surely expected to attract offers, as Manchester City are also considering a move to bring Fernandes in as a replacement for compatriot Bernardo Silva.
West Ham are reportedly demanding at least £55 million to even consider selling the midfielder, which might be seen as the right valuation. Arsenal could be a strong contender as they are expected to search for a new midfielder, and so are Manchester City.
