Real Madrid will reportedly attempt to tie 26-year-old French international Aurelien Tchouameni to a new contract amid his links with Liverpool and Manchester United.
According to a report by SPORT, as relayed by Sport Witness, Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in versatile Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The two Premier League giants are keen on reinforcing their first-team squads by signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window.
However, the latest report has brought bad news for Liverpool and Manchester United, as Real Madrid will not entertain offers for the Frenchman in the upcoming transfer window. Additionally, the Spanish giants are ready to offer Tchouameni a new three-year contract to ward off the interested clubs.
How has Aurelien Tchouameni fared at Real Madrid?
Aurelien Tchouameni has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Real Madrid from AS Monaco in July 2022. Los Blancos beat intense competition to sign the 25-year-old midfielder, and he has made significant progress since then while becoming a utility man for Real Madrid due to his ability to play as a midfielder and a centre-back.
However, Tchouameni, who has made nearly 200 appearances for Real Madrid thus far, has blown hot and cold in recent seasons despite being a mainstay for the senior side. That has not affected the French midfielder’s stock, with Liverpool and Manchester United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Premier League adventure beckons?
Aurelien Tchouameni has been on Manchester United’s wishlist for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as the Red Devils are looking for a long-term replacement for Casemiro, who will depart from Old Trafford as a free agent after the 2025/26 season. With Manuel Ugarte being a liability since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain nearly two years ago, Manchester United must seek a solution from the market.
As for Liverpool, the Reds are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder, as they want more dynamism in the middle of the park. Signing Tchouameni can allow Liverpool to utilise Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai in multiple roles, enabling tactical versatility.
However, a summer move is a tall order amid Real Madrid’s desire to tie the 26-year-old to a new contract. So, Liverpool and Manchester United must look elsewhere for a midfielder ahead of the 2026/27 season, as Tchouameni is seemingly unattainable.
