Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly demanding an eight-figure sum to entertain offers for Arsenal and Real Madrid-linked Christian Kofane.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal and Real Madrid have been quoted €60–70 million by Bayer Leverkusen. The emerging 19-year-old Bundesliga striker has been a good presence for the team this season since joining them last summer, as his displays have attracted significant interest in the market.
Christian Kofane has had a good enough first season with Bayer Leverkusen, as they acquired the striker as part of a major overhaul. A host of their key first-team stars left in the summer, which prompted the club to sign several players, including the 19-year-old striker.
Kofane has seven goals and eight assists across all competitions, and has recently been preferred to lead the line with regularity. A host of teams, including Real Madrid, have kept tabs on the Cameroonian international. He could take the opportunity if a serious offer arrives, although Bayer Leverkusen are demanding an eight-figure sum to sell him.
Real Madrid have been looking at young talents to improve their squad and develop them for the future. Kofane is already playing at a high level, and that could prompt a move for the Cameroon international striker.
The Spanish giants are expected to baulk at the €60–70 million asking price set by Leverkusen, although they might try to open negotiations to bring it down. Leverkusen have been steadfast in their demands in recent windows, and they have no reason whatsoever to reduce their eight-figure asking price.
Arsenal to chase Christian Kofane?
Kofane recently impressed against Arsenal — a point Florian Plettenberg highlights when relaying their interest in the 19-year-old Bundesliga striker. Arsenal are indeed interested in Kofane, as Mikel Arteta may seek a new striker to add to their current squad.
There is a possibility of Gabriel Jesus leaving in the summer, which could open up space in the forward line for another addition. In that scenario, Arsenal might prefer to add a player with high potential and future value, which does make Kofane a viable target — and his price point may not be a concern for the Gunners.
