Newcastle United could accept Sandro Tonali bid this summer

Newcastle United may entertain bids for 25-year-old Italian international Sandro Tonali in the summer transfer window if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United are interested in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. The latest report has brought good news, as the Magpies are ready to cash in on the Italian international if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

How has Sandro Tonali fared during his spell at Newcastle United?

Sandro Tonali has established himself as one of the most reliable players in the Premier League since joining Newcastle United from AC Milan in a deal worth £55 million in July 2023. The 25-year-old has been a pivotal figure for the Tyneside outfit whenever he has been fit and available, never showing signs of rust despite missing most of his debut season due to a betting ban.

Tonali has been exceptional in the 2025/26 season, chipping in with three goals and seven assists in 47 appearances thus far. However, the Italian midfielder’s future is uncertain after rumours of an exit a few weeks ago. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature amid mounting speculation surrounding the Newcastle United mainstay.

A man in demand

Manchester City may dip into the market for a holding midfielder this summer, even though Pep Guardiola has a stacked midfield unit. However, Rodri has not been at his best since returning from a long-term knee injury. Additionally, Nico Gonzalez has failed to win over the Manchester City manager despite being consistent in the middle of the park.

Meanwhile, Arsenal considered a late move for Sandro Tonali in the winter transfer window, but it did not materialise. The continued interest is somewhat surprising, as Mikel Arteta has a stacked midfield unit in his squad. However, with Christian Norgaard on the wrong side of 30, Arsenal may look for a new midfielder this summer.

As for Manchester United, Casemiro will depart from Old Trafford as a free agent after the 2025/26 season. Additionally, Manuel Ugarte has been a liability since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain 18 months ago. So, Tonali is an option worth considering for Manchester United.

With Newcastle United warming up to the possibility of parting ways with the 25-year-old Italian international, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United will fancy their prospects. The Magpies are 12th in the Premier League table, and they have never shown the consistency they displayed last season. So, Champions League qualification may be a faint hope at best for the Tyneside outfit.
