However, the London club seem to be behind Sunderland in the race. The Black Cats have been linked with him for months. They have a concrete interest in the youngster and have already intensified their efforts to sign him.

The Premier League ouftit are already in talks with the player’s camp. He has been offered a four-year contract with an option to extend it by another 12 months. An agreement between all parties is yet to be reached, but the discussions to this point have been very positive.

He is a complete midfielder who can certainly compete for a starting role at Sunderland. While there is a lot of competition for places at Chelsea, a move to Black Cats could be ideal for him to continue his development as a player.
