Valentino Livramento is not closing in on a move to Manchester City despite recent reports, as no talks have been held with Newcastle United.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Valentino Livramento is not close to joining Manchester City. The Italian transfer expert insisted that no talks have taken place in that regard with Newcastle United, despite recent reports stating Manchester City are closing in on the right-back ahead of the summer.
Valentino Livramento’s future is a concerning subject over at St. James’ Park, as the defender could be entering a decisive summer with regards to his time at Newcastle United. The versatile defender has established himself as a key player under Eddie Howe and one of the top performers in his position in the Premier League.
Manchester City are the team heavily linked since last summer, with recent reports stating Pep Guardiola is pushing to sign Livramento. The English defender is viewed as the ideal addition to the team with regard to what the Catalan manager wants from a right-back.
Matheus Nunes has been deputising in the role since last season and to good effect, although Guardiola does not see the Portuguese midfielder as a long-term solution there. Rico Lewis has failed to shine, and the fanbase believes the club have not adequately replaced Kyle Walker in the team.
Valentino Livramento will be in demand, and while Newcastle United have no interest in selling him, external factors could determine their stance in the summer. This could be another window where the Magpies and Howe fight to keep hold of a top performer, but the pressure of big suitors could soften their iron grip on the situation.
No Manchester City move for Livramento?
As per Fabrizio Romano, Valentino Livramento is not close to joining Manchester City despite reports stating otherwise. The Italian transfer expert does confirm that the Citizens are in the market for a new right-back, which might be an indication they are looking at the 23-year-old Newcastle United wide man as well as other names.
However, Romano has insisted that no talks have taken place with Newcastle United, although he failed to mention the stance from the Magpies on their star defender. As things stand, talks could commence around the summer window to determine whether a move is possible, although Newcastle United are in a strong position given Livramento has a contract with the club until 2028.
