Chelsea line up €50 million move for Vitor Roque

Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a €50 million offer to sign Vitor Roque, with Barcelona paying close attention to the transfer speculation.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are preparing a €50 million offer to test the waters for Vitor Roque. The Palmeiras striker could be lured back to Europe following his below-par stint in Spain, with Barcelona keeping close tabs on his situation ahead of the summer window.

Vitor Roque was supposed to be a top-notch prospect for the future and potentially become Barcelona’s long-term striker. However, since his big-money move from Brazil to Catalonia, he has failed to achieve his goals following below-par spells with Barcelona and on loan at Real Betis.

He sealed a return to his homeland as Palmeiras paid a hefty fee to take him off Barcelona’s hands. He has performed admirably for the Brazilian side, scoring 25 times in 69 appearances for the club since his move there in January 2025.

His displays for Palmeiras have begun attracting attention from some of Europe’s prominent clubs, with Manchester United reportedly keen before January. However, it is Chelsea who are now showing signs of making a major approach in the summer, as they are reportedly lining up a €50 million move ahead of the next window.

Chelsea had been thinking of a summer move for Roque, and they now believe their €50 million offer might prove enough to tempt Palmeiras into a sale. The 21-year-old Brazilian striker is now considered a finished article, good enough to play for the Blues, but only time will tell whether the club are ready to make another major investment in the Brazilian market.

Chelsea to sign a new striker?

The pursuit of Roque suggests that Chelsea are indeed in the market for a new striker ahead of the summer, as they have also been linked with other stars. Porto’s Samu Aghehowa is another target, while rumours are suggesting they could part ways with the ineffective Liam Delap next summer.

As per another report on Fichajes, Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Roque’s situation, as they hold a 20% sell-on clause as part of his sale to Palmeiras, although they will be entitled to the sum only if a bid above a certain price point arrives. Chelsea believes the €50 million offer could be enough to trigger that threshold for Barcelona, as the La Liga side will be eager to make a small profit from the deal.
