Chelsea expected to agree Reece James contract in future

Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea are expected to agree a new long-term deal with their academy graduate Reece James.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are determined to keep their skipper Reece James at Stamford Bridge for his entire career, and they are gearing up to hand him a new long-term deal. The English international also shares a mutual desire to commit his future to the club.

James has been a part of the Chelsea setup since 2006. He went up their ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team back in 2019. He has only gone from strength to strength over the years and has been one of their mainstays for some time now.

While injuries have often derailed the 22-cap English full-back’s career, he has managed to bounce back every time. The 26-year-old regained full fitness in the second half of last season, and he hasn’t had a serious injury ever since.

In the ongoing campaign, James has been involved in 34 matches and has contributed towards nine goals. Irrespective of who is in charge, he remains an integral part of their plans. While he prefers playing out wide on the right flank, he has also been used in the centre of the park at times.

New deal for Reece James seems inevitable

Chelsea seem quite pleased with the progress he has made since regaining full fitness. While his current deal runs until 2028 and there is still plenty of time left, the Blues are already thinking about a new deal for their skipper.

The Blues are looking to reward him and, at the same time, secure his long-term future. Both parties are already on the same page regarding a new deal. Talks are progressing positively, and those at the club view a new deal for James as a matter of “when, not if.”

While the London club are in talks with other top players regarding a new deal, their priority is to ensure their academy graduate stays at the club until the end of his career. James and the people at the club share an exceptional relationship, one with deep respect and loyalty on both sides.

The player is appreciative of how the club has backed him throughout his struggles, while the board are pleased with his efforts to get back to his best and help his team. Both parties want to ensure their partnership continues, and there is very little chance of James not penning a new deal.
