Chelsea are considered frontrunners in the race for Murillo, with Manchester United and Liverpool battling for the Brazilian defender.
According to Team Talk, Murillo continues to attract interest from some of the top clubs in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest facing a fight to keep hold of the defender. Chelsea are thought to be ahead in the race for the Brazilian, while Manchester United and Liverpool are also in the mix.
Nottingham Forest have a big fight on their hands to keep hold of their best players ahead of the summer. With Vítor Pereira’s side battling relegation, even if they were to survive the ordeal, the chances of losing stars like Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo are high.
The latter is attracting big interest from some of the top teams in the division, as Murillo could reportedly push for an exit in the summer. Forest are seemingly demanding a fee in the £60–70 million region for the Brazilian centre-back, something his suitors might be willing to fork out.
Manchester United are certainly one of the contenders and are pushing to get ahead of the competition for the £60–70 million-rated Brazilian defender. The Red Devils may not have an immediate need for a left-footed centre-back, but the prospect of adding Murillo as competition for Lisandro Martínez will seem like a mouth-watering prospect.
Chelsea and Liverpool are pushing the hardest for Murillo, with the latter in the market for a left-footed centre-back. There are many names being discussed, as uncertainty over Ibrahima Konaté’s future could push the Reds towards a new defender. Even if the Frenchman stays, they would need a new defender to bolster their backline, as Joe Gomez’s future is doubtful, while the new arrival, Jeremy Jacquet, is still young.
Chelsea in the lead for Murillo?
Chelsea are seen as the frontrunner for Murillo, and it appears they are pushing to get ahead of the competition. The Blues were reportedly interested in the £60–70 million-rated Brazilian defender back in the summer, but Nottingham Forest were reluctant to lose him at the time.
The Blues are looking for new defenders in the market for the left-hand side, and signing someone like Murillo would be a step in the right direction. The Brazilian’s age, combined with his experience in the Premier League, makes him an ideal choice for Chelsea, Manchester United or Liverpool, although the fee alone would make him one of the most expensive centre-backs in the division.
