Chelsea and Bayern Munich are vying for the signature of Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen ahead of the summer, as Brighton seems relaxed about the situation.
According to Fichajes, Bart Verbruggen is emerging as a top keeper choice for the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich ahead of the summer. The Dutch stopper has produced some notable displays and has plenty of Premier League experience, with his club Brighton taking on a relaxed stance to get the best value in the market.
Some notable clubs are expected to dip into the market for a new goalkeeper. Chief among those are Chelsea and Bayern Munich, with those clubs looking for a new stopper for different reasons, and they did have a common target in mind earlier.
Bayern Munich were seen as a top contender for Mike Maignan, but the French international has since signed a new deal with AC Milan to kill any speculation. Chelsea were also keen on the experienced France star, but since he has agreed a new deal, the Blues have cooled their interest.
Now, the two teams are vying for another common keeper target, with Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen of particular interest to the duo. Bayern Munich are looking for a long-term Manuel Neuer replacement despite the veteran showing no signs of slowing down as things stand. The club may have to secure a player in his position sooner rather than later.
Verbruggen is seen as the ideal target, given the keeper has plenty of experience from his time with Brighton in the Premier League. The Bavarians are certainly likely to make their case, but they face the formidable threat of Chelsea, with Brighton relaxed and could demand at least €50 million for the stopper.
Chelsea to target Bart Verbruggen?
Chelsea were prepared to make an offer for Verbruggen, as they could target yet another Brighton player. Incidentally, they are looking at the Dutchman to provide competition for his predecessor at Brighton, Robert Sanchez, as the two could form a partnership and fight for the No.1 jersey at Stamford Bridge. Should the €50 million-rated Premier League goalkeeper arrive, it could spell the end for Filip Jorgensen.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are serious about landing the €50 million-rated Premier League goalkeeper, given they already have Sanchez in the position. Verbruggen also had Tottenham’s attention earlier, but the likes of Chelsea or Bayern Munich might prove more attractive to the Dutchman as things stand.
