Leeds United face uphill task in Harry Wilson chase

Leeds United will not have a straightforward shot at the signature of 28-year-old Fulham winger Harry Wilson amid his links with other suitors like Crystal Palace and Everton.

According to a report by Football Insider, Harry Wilson is the subject of interest of Leeds United. The Whites are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on Fulham winger. However, the West Yorkshire will face a tall order in the battle for the Welsh winger’s signature, as Crystal Palace and Everton are also keen on signing him.

How has Harry Wilson fared at Fulham so far?

Harry Wilson has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Fulham from Liverpool in a deal worth £12 million in July 2021. While the 28-year-old was slow off the blocks at the West London club, he has transformed his reputation in the ongoing campaign.

The Welsh international has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this term. However, Wilson’s long-term future at the West London club is uncertain, as he has entered the final six months of his contract. The situation has piqued the attention of several clubs, with Crystal Palace, Everton, and Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Crystal Palace will dip into the market for a versatile winger in the summer transfer window, even though they have signed several attackers in the last 12 months. Nevertheless, the Eagles want more firepower in the final third, and they have set their sights on the Welshman.

Meanwhile, Everton’s wanted to sign Harry Wilson in the winter transfer window, but a deal did not materialise. While David Moyes has several top-notch wide attackers in his squad, he can do with more quality in the final third, as it is unclear if Jack Grealish will remain at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after his loan deal expires after the 2025/26 season. So, Wilson has emerged as a viable target for Everton.

As for Leeds United, the Whites were keen on signing Wilson last summer, but a deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as Daniel Farke wants more firepower in the final third. So, Wilson is a viable target for Leeds United. However, the West Yorkshire outfit will face a tall order to secure the Welshman’s services.

With Crystal Palace and Everton also involved in the battle for Wilson’s signature, the former Liverpool attacker can pick the club that can offer him regular game time and European football. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 28-year-old Fulham winger.
