Liverpool eye Micky van de Ven as Ibrahima Konate replacement

Liverpool are reportedly reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Dutch defender Micky van de Ven from Tottenham Hotspur.

Ibrahima Konate could leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and they need to replace him. The Premier League champions have identified Tottenham Hotspur star Micky van de Ven as the Frenchman’s replacement, according to a report from TEAMtalk,

Tottenham paid €40 million to sign van de Ven from VfL Wolfsburg, and he has been exceptional for the North London club. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can get the deal done for the Dutchman in the summer tranfer window.

It will not be easy for them to secure an agreement with Tottenham, who want to instead tie the Netherlands international to a new contract. The North London outfit will not want to lose a key player like him.

The Dutch defender is an indispensable asset for Spurs. The North Londoners will be hoping to fight for trophies, and they cannot afford to sell their best players to direct rivals. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can convince them with a lucrative proposal. It is going to be an expensive acquisition for the Premier League champions. Tottenham will look to make a substantial profit on the player.

Konate set for Real Madrid switch in summer?

On the other hand, Ibrahima Konate has been linked with Real Madrid. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish giants are willing to provide the French international with an exit route in the summer. Konate will be a free agent, and he has not agreed on an extension with Liverpool yet.

The 26-year-old has done quite well in the Premier League with Liverpool, and he could be an outstanding acquisition for Real Madrid on a free transfer. Losing a player like Konate will be a huge blow for Liverpool, but they will certainly be delighted if they can sign the Tottenham defender.

The Dutchman is currently one of the best in his position in the Premier League, and he could make an immediate impact at Liverpool. Even though Tottenham will not want to lose a player like him, the 24-year-old speedster could be tempted to join a bigger club, and it remains to be seen whether he decides to force an exit.
