Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain poised to seal Celtic switch

Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfield star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly all set to join Scottish giants Celtic.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is all set to resume his football career with a move to Scotland. According to a report from Sky Sports journalists Anthony Joseph and James Savundra, the former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder is all set to travel to Glasgow today to finalise his move to Celtic.

Oxlade-Chamberlain came up the ranks at Southampton and had decent spells at Arsenal and Liverpool before joining Turkish outfit Besiktas in the summer of 2023. He made a total of 50 appearances for Besiktas and even contributed towards six goals in his two-year spell.

However, the Englishman ended up parting ways with the Super Lig club last summer, and he has been on the lookout for a new club ever since. Despite being a free agent, he could not find a new club in time for the new season.

As a result, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been training at the Arsenal facility to keep fit while looking for a new club. It seems he has finally found his club, as the English midfielder has already bid goodbye to the North London club’s first-team squad at their London Colney base yesterday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain to join Celtic

Celtic, who have been in advanced talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s camp, have finally managed to strike a deal for his services. The Englishman is expected to be in Glasgow today to finalise the move. He is set to put pen to paper on a six-month contract with an option to extend by another 12 months.

While Celtic are all set to get their hands on the versatile English midfielder, who can feature anywhere on the pitch, they won’t be able to register him for the UEFA Europa League, as small details were not finalised in time. But Celtic are relaxed about the situation, as they were not planning to have him in their European squad anyway.

Since he has not played any professional football since the summer, the 32-year-old might be a touch rusty at the start. But if he gets going, Celtic will have a top-class, experienced campaigner running the show for them.
