Tottenham rival Crystal Palace, West Ham United in Raheem Sterling chase

Tottenham are ready to rival some of their fellow London clubs in the race for Raheem Sterling after the winger’s departure from Chelsea.

According to Caught Offside, Raheem Sterling is emerging as a target for Tottenham ahead of the next few days. The Chelsea flop left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent, with a host of other London-based teams also keen, including Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

Rahgeem Sterling finally found a solution to his Chelsea misery, after leaving the club by Mutual consent during the week. The attacker has had a torrid couple of years in his career, which also includes a below-par loan spell at Arsenal last season.

Chelsea made him. part of their supposed ‘Bomb Squad’ that saw the likes of Sterling and Axel Disasi being a part of it. However, the winger is now a free agent following his departure, which attracted a few clubs, but not everyone is very sure about signing, considering Fulham have already ruled out a move.

Leeds United are also out of the running despite briefly being linked with a move, while the likes of Crystal Palace and West Ham somewhat remain in the race. There are significant doubts whether the London duo will make a concerted move, but they might be encouraged by the news that Sterling is willing to take a massive pay cut compared to what he was earning with his Chelsea contract.

Palace and the Hammers may yet have to pay a premium wage to the Chelsea flop, which does cast major doubts. The former did sign Evann Guessand on loan, while the Hammers have brought in Adama Traore from Fulham, which probably makes the pursuit of Sterling not so important.

Tottenham keen on Raheem Sterling?

Tottenham are now in the mix for Sterling, as they seek a dynamic attacker who could help them get through to their targets this season. There will be eyes on Spurs to see whether they are ready to make a serious push for the English winger, but they may not need a wide attacker as a priority.

Sterling’s experience in the game, as well as the dynamism he could bring to Tottenham’s attack, might be in line with what Thomas Frank may want at the moment. However, it remains to be seen whether they make an offer to tempt Sterling into making the move, as it might also be a short-term solution rather than a longer contract.
