Nottingham Forest ponder Dwight McNeil swoop

Nottingham Forest are looking to improve their attacking unit by signing 26-year-old Everton attacker Dwight McNeil.

Dwight McNeil has done well since joining Everton, and he has been linked with a move away from Everton this month. According to a report by Sky Sports journalists Rob Dorsett and Vinny O’Connor, relegation-threatened Premier League club Nottingham Forest are looking to sign the 26-year-old from Everton before the January transfer window closes.

The Tricky Trees are looking to add more quality and cutting-edge in the final third, and recent reports have also linked them with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. McNeil will add pace and creativity to the team. He will help create opportunities for his teammates. Nottingham Forest need to improve if they want to do well during the second half of the season.

Sean Dyche will look to get them back on track and help them survive in the Premier League. He has worked with McNeil during their time together at Burnley and Everton. The 26-year-old attacker could be keen on a reunion with his former manager.

Dyche brought out the best in the Everton winger during his managerial stint at Turf Moor. He will also look to get the best out of the player at Nottingham Forest if the move goes through. It will be interesting to see if Everton are willing to sanction his departure this late in the window.

The Toffees are lacking in the attacking unit, especially after the season-ending injury to Jack Grealish, and losing the 26-year-old without a proper replacement would be a blow for them. The Merseyside outfit are looking to finish as high as possible in the Premier League table, and they need to keep hold of their important players.

The 26-year-old could be very useful for them between now and the end of the season. Even though the Englishman has not been a regular starter this season, he is a valuable member of the first team, and the Toffees should hold onto him until the end of the season.

McNeil seeks more minutes

Meanwhile, the player has started just seven Premier League games this season, and he could be tempted to move on. He will look to play more often at this stage of his career. The opportunity to play under his former manager every week will be quite exciting for McNeil. It remains to be seen whether Nottingham Forest submits an acceptable offer for the player.
