Leeds United reject Besiktas move for Lucas Perri

Besiktas recently approached Leeds United to discuss a possible move for 28-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri, but the Whites have rejected the Turkish club.

According to a report by Sky Sports journalist Zinny Boswell, Lucas Perri is the subject of interest from Besiktas. The Black Eagles are keen on bolstering their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the winter transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Leeds United shot-stopper has emerged as a target for the Turkish Super Lig outfit.

Besiktas recently approached Leeds United to discuss a possible move for the South American shot-stopper in the final days of the winter transfer window. However, the Whites have rejected the Turkish club’s enquiry, as they do not want to part ways with him in the coming week.

How has Lucas Perri fared at Leeds United?

Lucas Perri has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Leeds United Lyon in a deal worth €16 million in January 2024. Born in Valinhos, the player spent his formative years in Brazil and graduated from the youth division at Sao Paulo FC. However, the 28-year-old rose in prominence due to his exploits for Lyon.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian goalkeeper has struggled with injuries and sketchy form at Leeds United, and Daniel Farke recently dropped him in favour of Karl Darlow. Perri has made 16 Premier League appearances for Leeds United while keeping three clean sheets and conceding 29 goals. However, the player’s stock is high, with Besiktas among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

What next?

Besiktas’s interest in Lucas Perri is understandable. The Black Eagles are keen on bolstering their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the winter transfer window, as Sergen Yalcin wants a top-notch shot-stopper for the second half of the 2025/26 season. Several candidates, including Filip Jorgensen and Antonin Kinsky, have thus emerged on Besiktas’s wishlist.

However, Jorgensen will not leave Chelsea this month, while Kinsky may join West Ham United in the winter transfer window. Perri has thus emerged as a viable alternative, and Besiktas recently approached Leeds United to discuss a possible move in the coming days.

However, the Whites have rejected the Turkish Super Lig outfit, as they do not want to entertain any offers for the 28-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper. It will be interesting to see if Perri can regain his spot as the first-choice shot-stopper at the West Yorkshire club in the coming weeks.
