A host of Premier League sides are tracking Mohamed Kader Meite with a view to signing the promising French-Ivorian striker.
According to Caught Offside, some of the top Premier League teams are keeping close tabs on Stade Rennais talent Mohamed Kader Meite. The teenage striker is on the radar of Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham, with those teams looking at the possibility of making a move.
Al-Hilal may have played a part in bringing Mohamed Kader Meite to the surface, as the media has since been speculating on the teenager’s future. The Saudi Pro League side have reportedly tabled a €40 million offer for the 18-year-old Ligue 1 attacking prodigy, but the player is not keen to make the move to the Middle East yet.
On the other hand, he firmly believes there’s a long and fruitful career in Europe or the Premier League. There are a handful of teams from England keeping close tabs, including Chelsea, who were keen last summer. The Blues have a habit of tracking some of the prodigious young talents from around, as the 18-year-old Ligue 1 attacking prodigy is part of their list.
Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham are also among the teams keeping close tabs, as they believe the teenager is worth tracking for the present and future. Those teams are always on the lookout for talent with a high ceiling and future value, as a move could be on the cards either this month or next summer.
Al-Hilal’s reported offer underlines what Rennes might be looking for in terms of the fees, something that will prove difficult for Premier League teams to invest this month. However, those sides are set to keep track of the 18-year-old Ligue 1 attacking prodigy ahead, with a summer move likely to be on the cards.
Is Mohamed Kader Meite worth the hype?
Three goals in 19 appearances across all competitions does not scream to be a profile of a top goalscorer. However, Meite has shown he can perform other duties that a modern striker requires, while his physical attributes are certainly suitable for the Premier League.
While those teams are alert to his situation and watching him in action regularly, Crystal Palace are reportedly ahead in the race. The Eagles are contemplating a move this month amid fears that Jean-Philippe Mateta might depart, although Meite is not seen as a direct replacement for the Frenchman, but as an investment for the future.
