Chelsea are pushing hard to sign Real Madrid attacking sensation Franco Mastantuono on an initial loan deal.
Franco Mastantuono’s immediate future has become a massive talking point, as Real Madrid consider sending him out on loan to fast-track his development, amidst interest from a Premier League giant.
According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea have emerged as a potential destination for the Argentine international. The Blues are interested in signing him mid-season to bolster their attack under Liam Rosenior.
Mastantuono came up the ranks at River Plate and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before making the jump to Real Madrid last summer in a deal worth €45 million.
Los Blancos forked out a fortune on the youngster because of his impressive rise and massive potential. His transition at the Spanish club has been gradual, and he has often shown signs of the talent he possesses.
So far, he has been involved in 21 matches and has racked up over 1,000 minutes. The 18-year-old right-winger also has four goal contributions. While these are not outstanding numbers, everyone at the club is quite pleased with his growth.
Mastantuono could be loaned out
Since there is a lot of competition for places under Alvaro Arbeloa, Madrid believes a short spell at Chelsea could help him. Meanwhile, the London club’s interest is driven by their manager, Liam Rosenior, who believes the 18-year-old is an ideal fit for his system.
For now, the Blues believe a loan move is the only realistic outcome. They want to offer him a competitive environment where he thrives and could then look for a permanent position. However, it won’t be that straightforward, as Real Madrid have no intentions of parting ways with him.
The Spanish giants are holding talks over his future and will soon reach a decision. It will be interesting to see if they allow him to leave or decide to retain him in their squad.
