Relegation-threatened Wolves are all set to battle Birmingham City and Sheffield United in their pursuit of Chelsea wonderkid Harry McGlinchey.
Harry McGlinchey has been given the green light to leave Chelsea this month, and there is no shortage of interest in him. According to a report from Football Insider, Wolves, Birmingham City, and Sheffield United are ready to battle it out for the signature of the teenage defender.
McGlinchey joined the Chelsea youth setup at the start of 2022 from Plymouth Argyle. The teenager has since gone up the ranks, and he is currently a part of their Under-21s. The young full-back has featured in five league games this term and has two assists to his name.
While the 18-year-old is quite highly rated by people at the club, the Blues are ready to negotiate his departure. Harry McGlinchey is keen on moving away in search of a more prominent role, and Chelsea have informed him that he is free to leave as long as there is a significant sell-on clause in his contract.

However, they are not the only club that are pushing for his signature, as Championship outfits Birmingham City and Sheffield United have also been keeping tabs on the youngster. Just like Wolves, they are looking to lure him by offering him a quick route to their first team.
With the Blues giving the green light to his departure, it will be interesting to see which of the three clubs ends up winning the race for the young full-back, who certainly has the potential to make it big in England.
While he signed his first professional contract with Chelsea towards the end of 2024, he has yet to make his first-team debut, and it might be one of the major reasons why he is looking to switch clubs to fast-track his career.
