Crystal Palace, Leeds United make move to sign Patrick Agyemang

Crystal Palace and Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old USMNT international Patrick Agyemang from Derby County in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Crystal Palace and Leeds United are interested in Patrick Agyemang. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Derby County centre-forward has emerged as a target.

Crystal Palace and Leeds United have submitted enquiries to discuss a possible January deal, and the former may make the first move amid uncertainties surrounding Jean-Philippe Mateta’s long-term future. Meanwhile, Derby County will demand around £20 million to part ways with the American striker this year.

Who is Patrick Agyemang?

Patrick Agyemang has made considerable progress since joining Derby County from Charlotte FC last summer. Born in East Hartford, Connecticut, the 25-year-old spent his formative years in the USA and graduated from the youth division at Hartford Hellions S.C. before rising in prominence during his spell with Charlotte FC.

The USMNT international has been solid thus far in the 2025/26 season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 24 EFL Championship appearances. Meanwhile, Agyemang’s progress at Derby County has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Crystal Palace and Leeds United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Patrick Agyemang is understandable. The Eagles are sweating over Jean-Philippe Mateta’s long-term future, as the French international is keen on embarking on a new adventure in the winter transfer window amid his links with Aston Villa and Chelsea. Several candidates have thus emerged on Crystal Palace’s wishlist, with Agyemang also a viable target.

As for Leeds United, the Whites have been exceptional since Daniel Farke shifted to the 3-5-2 formation. However, utilising that system means the 2024/25 EFL Championship winners need a new striker to line up alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Several candidates, including Jorgen Strand Larsen, have thus emerged on Leeds United’s wishlist, with Agyemang also an option worth considering.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Leeds United have already initiated their moves to sign the 25-year-old American striker by submitting enquiries for a possible deal. Derby County will demand around £20 million to part ways with the USMNT international. It will be interesting to see if Agyemang leaves the EFL Championship club after only six months.
