Aston Villa in box seat to sign Tammy Abraham, step up interest

Aston Villa and Everton are reportedly keen on signing 28-year-old English striker Tammy Abraham amid his exploits for Besiktas since arriving on loan from AS Roma.

According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa and Everton are interested in Tammy Abraham. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 28-year-old has emerged as a target amid his exploits for Besiktas.

The latest report has revealed that the Villans “remain firmly in the ‘box seat’ to land their target” in the winter transfer window. Additionally, a report by Hurriyet via Sport Witness has revealed that “officials from the Birmingham club have flown over to Turkey” to seal the deal for the Englishman. Meanwhile, an update by Sabah has suggested that Besiktas will demand around €20 million to part ways with him this month.

How has Tammy Abraham fared in recent years?

Tammy Abraham has endured a topsy-turvy ride since leaving Chelsea in August 2021. He joined AS Roma in August 2021 and enjoyed a solid debut season. However, poor form and fitness issues plagued the 28-year-old after that. Additionally, he could not make his mark during his loan stint with AC Milan in the 2024/25 season.

However, the English striker has resurrected his stuttering fortunes this season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions during his loan spell with Besiktas. The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Aston Villa and Everton are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Aston Villa’s interest in Tammy Abraham makes sense. The Villans have been scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the winter transfer window. With Aston Villa being overdependent on Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers, they must sign a productive forward in the winter transfer window to avoid letting their campaign spiral. So, Abraham has emerged as a viable target.

As for Everton, Beto and Thierno Barry have not been consistent enough in the 2025/26 season, and widespread reports have linked the former with a move away from the Merseyside club. Several candidates, including Youssef En-Nesyri, have thus emerged on Everton’s wishlist, with Abraham also an option worth considering.

The latest report has revealed that the Villans are better-placed than Everton in the battle for the 28-year-old Englishman’s signature. Aston Villa officials have travelled to Turkiye to finalise the move for Abraham, and Besiktas will demand around €20 million to part ways with the English striker. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former Chelsea attacker.
