Ajax confident of sealing permanent move for Oleksandr Zinchenko

Dutch giants Ajax are reportedly optimistic about securing the services of Arsenal outcast Oleksandr Zinchenko permanently.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Oleksandr Zinchenko is all set to part ways with Arsenal on a permanent basis, as Ajax have an agreement in place to sign the Ukrainian international in the ongoing transfer window.

Zinchenko made quite a name for himself while playing for Manchester City. On the back of his impressive performances, the Gunners forked out £30 million to sign the 29-year-old utility man in the summer of 2022.

The player was an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s plans in the initial years, but he eventually fell out of favour. Having struggled for game time last season, Zinchenko ended up joining Nottingham Forest last summer in search of a more prominent role.

However, things have not gone according to plan for him, as he has racked up just over 700 minutes of first-team action in the entire first half of the season. Sean Dyche has made it clear that he is not a part of his plans moving forward, and since his loan deal does not include a termination clause, the Tricky Trees will have to find him a new club.

Zinchenko is set to join Ajax this month

Arsenal have no intentions of reintegrating Oleksandr Zinchenko in their team mid-season, and with his contract running out at the end of the campaign, they are more than open to a permanent departure. Ajax, who have been keeping tabs on his situation, have emerged as a potential destination.

They were looking to add more quality and experience to the mix, and someone like Zinchenko, who could feature at the back as well as in midfield, is seen as a great market opportunity. The Dutch club have already held talks with all parties involved.

They are confident about agreeing on a permanent deal to sign the Arsenal utility man. The report suggests Zinchenko has agreed a six-month contract with the Eredivisie outfit, and his long-term future will be revisited in the summer depending on his performances. If things go according to plan, the 29-year-old’s move to Ajax should be made official in the coming days.
